HSC
I am currently in my final year of a Professional Doctorate in Health and Social Care at UEA.
I have been a psychotherapist for nearly 30 years. I have set up and run counselling services in GP surgeries, been Head of Staff Counselling at the University of Cambridge, am a founding member of Collaborate, a Cognitive Analytic Therapy organisation based in Cambridge, and work as a therapist and supervisor.
My research area is the subtle abuse of heterosexual women of high educational and socio-economic status in intimate relationships. My work aims to define this kind of abuse. I am also interested in how therapists can recognise women clients who have experienced or are experiencing subtle abuse. The women themselves present in therapy not knowing they were or are being abused, and instead think there is somethign wrong with them which they need to change.
