Academic Background

Rui is a Lecturer in Economics and Senior Academic Advisor for the School of Economics. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Milan and taught before at UCL and Queen Mary, University of London. 

His general research interests focus on Behavioral Economics and Political Economy. Rui's work currently focuses on democratic decision-making, the demand and supply of populism and other radical ideologies in Europe, the relevance and persistence of institutions, well-being and happiness, choice architecture, and the sociology of economics research and profession.
