Biography

Sarah Jacques is a 1st year PhD student in the Interdisciplinary Institute for the Humanities, at the University of East Anglia (UEA). Her research critically engages themes of militarism, gender, queer and power. Paying particular attention to the construction of gender identities, gendered experience and the creation of sub-cultures. Sarah's research intently offers fluidity, embracing feminism, military theory, intersectionality and design theory. Aspiring to intervene in the public and political debate around the construct of gender identities, and the moral geographies of sexuality and how spaces are occupied. Critically engaging with transformation in contemporary queer by extension of queer space, challenging the social and political binaries which regulate and routinely sustain gendered social arrangements. 

Sarah is a qualified and experienced social worker and has achieved a Master of Arts in Gender Studies. Sarah has a particular interest in the Military having lived as part of a Miltary family for over 10 years, other research interests include queer and discourses around political normalisation of body, gender and sexuality. Sarah also has a keen interests in social care and welfare, gender identity and nuerodiversity in girls and women.

Sarah has teaching interests in Queer theory, gender studies, militarism, social work and Neuro diversity.
