Personal profile

Biography

I am a Senior Research Associate in the in the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia. My research interests are on climate variability and teleconnection, Asian summer monsoon, regional climate modelling and extreme weather events.

I have completed a M.Sc degree in Oceanography and M.Tech. Degree in Atmospheric Sciences. In 2009, I received Ph.D. in Meteorology from the Department of Meteorology and Oceanography, Andhra University, India. My Ph.D. research was on the simulation of Indian summer monsoon phenomenon using mesoscale and regional climate models.

Just before the completion of my PhD, I joined as a researcher in the Atmospheric Sciences Team of the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), Pune, India and invoved on seasonal prediction of Indian summer monsoon using high resolution atmospheric general circulation models.

In 2010, I have moved to Japan to join as a postdoctoral researcher at the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC), in a collaborative research project between Japan and South Africa. During this period, I have visited several research centers and universities in South Africa for the collaborative research work.

In May, 2013 I have joined as a Junior Scientist in the Numerical Applications and Scenarios (ANS) Division of the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC), Bologna, Italy. At CMCC, I was mainly involved in research on the Indian Ocean warming and its relationship with the Indian summer monsoon and related teleconnections under the INDO-MARECLIM project.

At the end of 2014, I have moved to Japan for the 2nd time to work as a project Scientist in the same organization, Japan Agency for Marine-earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) and continued there until early 2017.
