Personal profile

Key Research Interests and Expertise

  • Researching methods to determine the geographical origin of foods and other materials by combining bio-element stable isotope ratios with trace element data and phylogeographic data. Developing methods based on bio-element stable isotope ratios combined with trace element data to verify different agricultural practices used in food production.

  • Developing on-line degradation techniques combined with CF-IRMS to determine intra-molecular isotope ratios.

  • Developing the application of isotopically labelled pollutants in Brownfield sites to monitor natural attenuation.

  • The application of Metabolomic analysis in food origin assignment.

  • Forensic and CBRN applications of stable isotope analysis.

  • Stable isotope ecology
