Academic Background

Sonali Campion is a doctoral researcher in the School of Politics, Philosophy, Language and Communications. Her project, which is funded by an ESRC SeNSS studentship, explores election management body capacity. Drawing on ideas from public management theory and country case studies, this research advances understanding of the resources, capabilities, and relationships that electoral institutions need to deliver credible elections.

Sonali previously worked in international election assistance and has supported observation missions and training in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe and the Pacific. She is an Affiliated Researcher with the Electoral Integrity Project, and in Summer 2023 was a Visiting Scholar at International IDEA in Stockholm, Sweden.
