I graduated with an integrated masters in Natural Sciences from the University of Leeds in July 2020. I mainly studied applied maths and physics, specifically using statistical modelling and machine learning techniques in biological systems modelling and fluid dynamics problems. My master's project focused on the applications of artificial neural networks for image recognition.
I am currently in the first year of a PhD in environmental data science at UEA supervised by Dr Peer Nowack and Prof Manoj Joshi. I will be using machine learning techniques like neural networks and random forests to evaluate the performance of current climate models against observations in order to study the influence of climate change on extreme weather events and identify physical drivers of model skill. The aim is to reduce uncertainty in future climate projections and develop better climate risk assessments in areas such as human health and ecology.
