Biography
Stephanie Smith is an NIHR Doctoral Research Fellow and Urology Registrar based at the Norwich Medical School and the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals. She is interested in translational clinical research that aims to improve the health and well-being of patients with prostate cancer. Her current project is focused on the application of urinary biomarkers in prostate cancer diagnosis and active surveillance protocols. After completing her intercalated degree in Pharmacology, she went on to qualify as a medical doctor from the University of Cambridge in 2015. Following the academic foundation programme and core surgical training, she commenced urology specialty training. She then studied for an MSc in Clinical Research at the University of East Anglia whilst completing her NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship in the East of England. She was successful in winning an NIHR Doctoral Research Fellowship as well as an Honorary Research Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, enabling her to commence PhD training in October 2023.
