Biography
Dr Vanya (Vasiliki) Kitsopoulou is a Lecturer in Brand Management and has served as a member of the Marketing Research team at Norwich Business School since 2011. Vanya has taught Marketing, Strategic Marketing Management, Consumer Brand Behaviour, Strategic and Global Branding at an undergraduate and postgraduate level over the past years, as a researcher and associate tutor at the NBS. Vanya has over 12 years of professional experience in the area of marketing and branding, through various roles in public relations, customer relations and marketing teams for Olympic Airways, Eurosport Channel and the Athens University of Economics and Business.
Vanya holds a PhD in Marketing from the University of East Anglia. Her thesis’ subject area is brand analytics, and her current research interests focus on the analysis of marketing communication messages, with emphasis on the mechanisms of message transmission and reception, structure and rhetoric in branding and marketing communications. Her previous training includes postgraduate qualifications on international relations from Panteion University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the National Kapodistrian University of Athens, School of Philosophy, specialising in French Language Communication and Literature. Vanya is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Key Research Interests
My research focuses on the analysis of marketing communication messages, with emphasis on corporate imagery. I am concerned with the mechanisms of visual message transmission and reception, structure and rhetoric in branding and marketing communications. In my thesis, I study the use of computational aesthetic measures for quantifying and analysing formal characteristics of marketing visuals, and the application of statistical methods for modelling and inference, along with techniques from machine learning.
