Biography

  • Lead Psychiatrist for the Asylum Seekers and Refugees Clinic-Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust since April 2022: I set up and run a specialist clinic for asylum seekers and refugees in Norfolk. I started these clinics voluntarily in 2018 but stopped during the COVID-19 pandemic (from 2020-2022). In 2022, these clinics were formally set up as part of the Advancing Mental Health Equalities (AMHE) Collaborative of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. For more information on these clinics, please visit our webpage: https://www.nsft.nhs.uk/community-services/service/asylum-seekers-and-refugees-clinic-at-the-rest-hub-150/

  • Consultant in General Adult and Old Age Psychiatry (Older People Community Team. Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, Norwich. UK) since June 2017. I lead a team of four Community Mental Health Nurses, two memory assessors, one memory treatment nurse and three junior doctors covering GP surgeries in the south part of Norwich city. I provide medical input to the care of older patients (those aged 70 years and above) with dementia and mental health problems and also younger patients with early-onset dementia.

  • Honorary Senior Lecturer and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (Norwich Medical School, University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK) since August 2017. I provide input into medical students' training and am also involved in the interview process for MBBS candidates. I am also a clinical and educational supervisor to junior doctors (GP trainees and Core Psychiatry Trainees).
