Biography

Dr Yuelai Lu is the Head of the Secretariat of UK-China Sustainable Agriculture Innovation Network (SAIN) and a Research Fellow at University of East Anglia, UK. He is specialized in sustainable agriculture and rural development.  He received BSc and MSc of soil conservation from Beijing Forestry University in 1982 and 1985, PhD of natural resource development from University of East Anglia in 1998. 

Dr Lu was a lecturer at Northwest Forestry College of China between 1985 and 1996; Research Officer at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) from 1998 to 2001; Research Fellow at University of East Anglia since 2001. He has been consultant to ADB, FAO, World Bank, EU, Dfid, BIS, and FCO on various projects related to sustainable agriculture and rural development in China and Africa.

From 2007-2008 Dr Lu was the consultant to the establishment of SAIN and Head of SAIN Secretariat since 2008.
