The English Association has a long tradition, dating back to its foundation in 1906, of honouring those who have made a distinguished contribution to the subject
In 2000, the EA introduced a special category of membership, by invitation only: Fellow of the English Association. Since then, our Fellowship has grown to include hundreds of Fellows, including writers, academics, educators, librarians, journalists, publishers and editors.
Our Fellows represent excellence in the teaching and learning of English, and have an active role in the EA’s mission.
In recognition of their award, Fellows may use the letters FEA after their name for the duration of their membership of the EA.
New Fellows are nominated by existing Fellows and by members of the EA’s Board and sub-committees.
