Description

Investigated effects of globalisation on poverty in selected sectors and countries, using case studies of garments, textiles and horticulture. John Thoburn’s part was the study the world textile industry, with Vietnam and South Africa as the countries for field work.

Funding (£700000) from UK Department for International Development. Subsequently, a further £20,000 was allocated to the project to extend the textile (and garment) value chain work to China.
