Agricultural policies in developing countries

This textbook, designed for graduate and undergraduate studies, is particularly concerned with policies affecting small-scale peasant production. The chapters are presented in three parts: the first looks at the framework and methodology of the partial equilibrium analysis of policies; while the second part contains the "core' sectoral policy chapters. These cover the topics of price policy, marketing policy, input policy, credit policy, mechanisation policy, land reform policy, research policy and irrigation policy. The final section looks at themes which cut across the material presented in these chapters - gender and food policy. The additional cross-cutting themes of state vs market and peasant household production inform the development of the argument throughout the book. -M.Amos
