Abstract

This work arises with the intention of fulfilling a demand, provided for in the LDB – Law of Guidelines and Bases of National Education, in the different campuses of the Federal Institute. According to Law No. 13,006, of June 26, 2014, "the exhibition of films of national production will constitute a complementary curricular component integrated into the school's pedagogical proposal, and its exhibition is mandatory for at least 2 (two) hours per month." (BRAZIL, 2014). The importance of providing students with contact with different audiovisual productions is also emphasized, since "the consumption of films (...) is part of the cultural formation of each individual" (DUARTE, 2002, p. 2)

In meetings and conversations with professors from different areas, courses and disciplines, it is perceived that, despite the legal provision for the use of national films as a curricular component, there are rare occasions in which this resource is used and, when used, it is usually occasional, hardly complying with the determination of monthly exhibition.
More than that, it is also noticeable that educators have difficulty in being able to think of Brazilian audiovisual works that can be used in educational contexts based on their pedagogical potential, and not only because they are national works.
In this way, this material was designed to fill this gap. Throughout the next few pages, there is a careful selection of Brazilian audiovisual works that were designed for use in the educational context of the Federal Institute. The films were selected based on their appeal to the student audience, their pedagogical potential and their ability to generate debates and educational activities.
