Abstract

Within the framework of the European TRADEOFF project, model studies have been performed to investigate the altitude dependence of the impact of NOx emissions from aircraft on the chemical composition of the atmosphere. Here we present results for present (year 2000) conditions form two chemical transport models and two coupled climate-chemistry models. We consider five different aircraft emissions scenarios, which were developed for TRADEOFF. Effects of changes in flight altitude and concomitant changes in fuel consumption are investigated separately.
