Abstract
Australia has a population of 23.5 million spread over a large land mass of some 7.7 million square kilometres. However, most of the population is concentrated along the eastern seaboard with Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane as the major population centers. Australia has a well-developed modern economy with an average Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita in 2011 of $42,540 (Purchasing Power Parity (PPP), 2011 international $) and a life expectancy at birth in 2012 of 82 years [1].
