Abstract

This paper is a reflection article on the essence of dialog and on the richness of diversity through the metaphor of a special dessert called Ashura (Noah's Pudding). "Noah's pudding" is a long standing tradition and a sweet dessert prepared of 41 different ingredients in the Middle East in remembrance of the event of the Noah's ark; and the pudding is distributed to friends, family, and neighbours. It is a common tradition among Christians, Jews and Muslims especially in the Middle East that continues today. Ashura symbolizes different cultures living together peacefully in harmony with preserving original identities. Noah's pudding can offer us a global metaphor for richness of diversity, dialog of civilizations, democracy, multiculturalism, tolerance, harmony of colors, and world peace.
