Abstract
Unsuccessful attempt in automating calibration processes for electronic measuring devices in a well-established instrumentation laboratory is presented, as well as suggestions on how to address the sociotechnical problem encountered. Negligence of resistance is an important issue which has always been overlooked to where it became a common sociotechnical barrier during the course of phasing in new technology. This resistance is not electrical resistance governed by Ohm's law but it is the resistance to be changed by personnel when automation or technology changes are suggested.
