Abstract

the undertaken research study comprises of a pyrolysis process of a blend of date seeds (DS) and coffee waste (CW) using the Aspen HYSYS software. A flowsheet has been developed in Aspen HYSYS to assess the pyrolysis production using three different weight percentages of date seeds and coffee waste. The effect of the pyrolysis operating temperature on the pyrolysis products has been investigated by adjusting the temperature in a controlled range of 300°C to 500 °C. The simulation model computes the yield of bio-oil, bio-char and gases, in three different cases of two biomass blends. The results show that with increasing the pyrolysis operating temperature, gases and bio-oil production increases linearly till 450°C, after that the gases production rate increases while the bio-oil production rate decreases. Contrary to that, the bio-char production rate decreases with increasing the temperature. Moreover, for favorable gases and bio-char production, coffee waste weight percentage must be increased, while for increased bio-oil production date seeds waste weight percentage must be increased.
