title = "Students as Zombies: How Can We Awaken the Undead?",
abstract = "Drawing on educational assessment research and literature and my reflections of working with students in Higher Education this chapter utilizes the metaphor of 'zombie' as an analytical tool to explore the interplay between assessments in compulsory education and the changing nature of some undergraduate students' learner identities. The chapter will consider how assessment in schools is creating a living dead culture within children's and young people's educational careers. Using the findings of a small-scale which explored students' and lecturers' experiences of Dialogue+, an intervention designed to support students' knowledge and understanding of assessment and feedback practices in universities, the chapter will then explore and discuss possible antidotes to the situation.",
