Abstract
Reviews the case for and against TNCs and technology transfer to developing countries; points out that the most recent issue, patents, are not usually the key source of monopoly powers of TNCs but that in other industries aside from pharmaceuticals, economies of scale in R & D, complexity of non-patented know how, or product differentiation are far more significant.
