Unsettling education: comparative perspectives from the Global South on the cultural production of educated persons

In this special issue we examine the significance of school-based education makes in the cultural production of educated persons both among school-age populations and in the lives of young people moving on from formal education in the global south. The articles collectively expand our knowledge on education both inside and outside the classroom, and during and after school. We are concerned with showing the ways school-based education is something people puzzle over, in terms of the identities attached to education, and the way these identities are in the making throughout the lifecourse. Our collection of papers shows how educated identities take on new forms and new referents as people transition from school-going years to life afterwards.
