Abstract

Companies are realizing that just translating Web content from one language to another is highly inadequate. Due to the cultural, geographical, and other issues the Web interfaces and the content of the Web pages should fit to the restrictions and requirements imposed by the different categories of users. To solve this problem, this paper is adopting a component- and XML-based approach for the Web interfaces design and development. This paper seeks to briefly highlight the barriers to global e-commerce and provide some suggestions to overcome such barriers. It also highlights some of the cultural issues that should be considered when designing a web site for international audience.
