Why and how future time perspective relates to goal progress

The present study examines the mediating role of self-leadership and the moderating role of perceived workplace support on the relationship between future time perspective and goal progress. Data were collected from academics in higher education institutions over three time points, with an average interval of two months. Analysis was conducted using Mplus and IBM SPSS. The findings reveal that self-leadership fully mediates the relationship between extended FTP and goal progress. Furthermore, perceived workplace support moderates the relationship between extended FTP and self-leadership. It also moderates the relationship between self-leadership and goal progress. These results accentuate the critical role of workplace support in shaping the pathway through which FTP influences goal progress. This research highlights the importance of developing self-leadership and fostering supportive work environments to enhance academics’ goal achievement.
